The wheel of justice grinds very slowly for the killing on November 15, 2010 of one of the best botanists our country ever had.

AGHAM – Advocates of Science and Technology for the People vehemently condemns the detention and harassment of fisherfolk and youth in Malolos, Bulacan, and urges government agencies, in particular the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), to investigate human rights violations related to the construction of San Miguel Corporation’s 2,500-hectare New Manila International Airport (Bulacan Aerotropolis).

It is high time to emphasize that calling a certain body of water “dead” does not warrant big corporations’ interest to build more infrastructure to satisfy their bottomless profit thirst. The Pasig River Expressway is a 19.37-km long death sentence that will kill the hopes for a better Pasig River ecosystem. AGHAM stands that PAREX will cause further damages to Pasig River, nearby urban dwellers, and over-all urban ecosystem of Metro Manila.

Scientist group urge DENR to stop planned demolition of Cavite fish pens and mussel farms

AGHAM-Advocates of Science and Technology for the People strongly urge the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to withdraw its order to demolish fish pens and mussel and oyster farms in Cavite City, Kawit, Rosario and Noveleta. Instead, DENR must listen to the affected communities and give them enough support to improve their livelihood amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
